Igloo Villages in the Alps?

If you feel like sleeping like an Eskimo inside an Igloo but eat your Cheese Fondue like the Swiss do, then should try staying at one of the Igloo Villages in the Alps: Engelberg, Zermatt, Grindelwald and Garmich-Partenkirchen. The Igloo hotels are built new year winter. Interested? Then you can visit for more details: http://www.iglu-dorf.com/Willkommen_en.html

That's a cool(!) idea but not anything new. We had those in my "homemountain" (http://www.laplandpyha.fi/winter/) in Finland already 20 years ago. Anyhow, it would be nice to overnight in an igloo.

ski vacation blog is cool and remarkable...i like this blog !!

G'night

We were there in march on the romantic igloo of Zermatt who cost CHF 518.00 for a night. First we were surprised to pay 56 Chf per person for going to the igloo. When you arrived at he hotel, you need to wait and...to pay for have a drink! ok, we pay! Arriving at he igloo your receive a plate of cheese and ham for those who goes on the romantic igloo, nice. The fondue was in paket, not delicious at all. About the jacuzzi we didn't knew there was a timing by room so we disturb a couple who were in honeymoon. The evening we want to make the walk but not enough raquettes! On the morning it is organize to go at the hotel by luge but not enough for everybody! Beautiful place, nice night, nice breakfast but when we need to pay the bill they asked us to pay the plate of cheese and Ham! Nice experience but realy too expensive for the quality and the organisation it is.

What a cool idea!

I was lucky enough to spend 3 nights in an Igloo Village last season in Zermatt courtesy of http://www.totalski.com . As you can expect, it can be summed up as character building! it was a real giggle and and the staff were excellent.

if you like enjoying of beach and mountain with snow you can sleep in a hotel in Spain of Tropical Coast.

I have always wanted to do something like that! A friend had her honeymoon there and said it was wonderfully romantic - said it was far different than you would expect. I saw pictures and was amazed how beautiful it all was.
Thanks for the info!

You are right this type of vacation is not for everyone and just for people that like adventures.

I saw these a few months ago in the German news. I think it takes a special type of person willing to spend the entire time in the hotel dressed in cold-weather gear, then to sleep in a sleeping bag.

For the prices they are asking, you could stay in a 5-star hotel! Sure, the novelty is there, but who wants to freeze!
